- Karen received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York Institute of Technology, working in video and photography for several years. After studying illustration and life drawing at SUNY, Karen began to combine her background in photography with the painting experience she had growing up with her mother, who is also an artist. This led to work in hand-colored black and white infra red photography and then evolved into a mixed media approach, combining photography, acrylics, and pastels. Her recent studies in abstract painting at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Cape Cod, and botanical illustration at Wellesley College Botanic Gardens have led to her recent works. Karen is a member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the American Watercolor Society, the American Society of Botanical Artists, and the Colonie Art League. She currently is selling watercolors on eBay and exhibiting regionally in the Hudson Valley.
