Additional Information

Tryptamind.com is an informative resource on psychoactive, psychedelic and hallucinogenic plants and their active chemical constituents. We provide accurate, well researched information on many of this world's most obscure/unknown plants and natural medicines as well as selected resources that sell top quality products at the best available prices.

Powerful plants, those traditionally considered sacred, are capable of transporting the human mind into higher dimensional realms of existence, one quanta away. They can induce states of altered awareness, "expand" consciousness, and induce very profound emotions. Through shamanic usage of sacred plants, we find a world to which modern science has neither access nor answers - the inner depths of the human mind.

We believe there is a need for more widely available information on both the potential risks and inherent benefits of using mind altering foods of the gods. The "Just Say No" approach to drug use is a mindless and misguided attack on the most basic human right to freedom of consciousness. It is only through a full and logical understanding of the multifaceted issue of psychoactive usage that the public will be able to see their potential merit. Thus, we attempt to effect change through education of the higher issue; that the keys to the chemical receptors in our brains are being kept under lock and key. This is largely due to the effectiveness of propaganda and scare tactics by governments heavily invested in keeping their societal members in a sober state, or on the productivity enhancing or mind numbing socially acceptable drugs - which are, of course, legal.

We see the law as a consensus enforcer. The impetus for change will come through culture, not the legal system, the latter of which in all but the most aberrant of situations, reacts to culture. The very nature of law is conservative. One of the intentions of law is to create a trustable set of fixed rules, however culture can and does evolve law. The first step that must be taken to legalize entheogens is to inform the public of all sides of the debate so that they can step outside of the fear and ignorance that surrounds this issue.

It is our belief that there are many non-physically addicting substances which combined with the proper understanding and self-control, may be used on occasion to enhance one's life. There are also many substances whose unrestrained use, overdose, or simply any use at all, may cause serious negative mental or physical effects or side-effects, including temporary insanity, social problems addiction, or death. Conversely, many powerful natural "drugs" have extremely low toxcicity, and the potential to modify "consciousness" in profound and spectacular ways unattainable without their aid. It would be prudent for anyone experimenting with any substance, legal or otherwise, to be aware of the potential dangers involved, and functional substitutes for the effect they are seeking, with a larger margin of safety, if they exist.

Experience may be gained through an entheogen-induced vision in the same way that we naturally remember the rest of our lives. Memories of events that happened in the mind are stored just the same way as memories of events which took place in shared four-dimensional space-time. The quantity and duration of periods of happiness are the determining qualifiers of a "good" life. There are many possible routes to achieve happiness, though ALL produce a chemical change in the brain. Believing that a drug's effects are not 'real' to the user is a misguided endeavor. It is time that we acknowledge the human desire to augment consciousness is real, and adjust public policy, education and the law accordingly.

Public education on drug use is quite limited and legal status (which may vary widely from place to place) is a poor indicator of the relative safety of a substance. In the current legal climate, all illegal substances are made to look as terrible as possible, which may contrast quite sharply with their real dangers, causing substances which do pose real risks to be seen as safer than they actually are. True drug education would solve this problem, but requires first that the laws match the relative safety levels of illegal drugs. There is also evidence that suggests that illegality is not much deterrent to users, and may actually create more of an interest (forbidden fruit effect) than if it were taxed and controlled as with alcohol. When something is made illegal, that very process creates an underground market for it at much elevated prices (with no taxation) and unknown purity. It also makes these drugs more available to anyone of any age through their illegal trade.

Many of the plants investigated herein have played a prominent role in our history, worldwide, for thousands of years. It is the aim of this website to encourage anyone with an interest in this area to expand their understanding and awareness of these little known, naturally occurring psychoactives. We aim to provide those interested with the unbiased information necessary for safe decision making. Inform yourself!
