France Off the Beaten Path ownerAn American raised in the countryside just outside of Philadelphia, PA, Christy Destremau's story begins more than 15 years ago when she settled in Provence, France where she married her French beau in a traditional Provencal ceremony. As a long term resident of France, she is multi-lingual, and holds dual nationality (American-French citizenship). Equipped with an extensive education and background in French history, language and international relations, plus a clear understanding of French culture and traditions, Christy launched Off the Beaten Path, LLC in response to encouragement from family and friends who admired both her passion for and knowledge of this historically and culturally rich country. On her very first tours, guests journeyed in style through the Loire Valley and along the French Rivieria. Soon after, Provence, Dordogne, Champagne and Bordeaux wine country were added to the roster of tours offered by the company.
In the beginning, Christy spent much of her time researching destinations, promoting the company and nurturing relationships throughout the country. Everyone, includng celebrity master and Michelin star chefs, sommeliers, wine producers, local artisans, artists and hoteliers, who provides their services and workshops exclusively for Off the Beaten Path, LLC Tours are personal friends, and are recognized as the "creme de la creme" in their respective professions. Whether travelers choose one of the company's regularly scheduled, small group tours to the Loire Valley, Provence or Bordeaux wine country or participate in a custom designed tour to one of these regions or another region of France (Dordogne, Champagne, Alsace, Burgundy or French Riviera), Christy ensures that each itinerary is inspiring and that each traveler's experience is unique and personalized.
