Tongue Tied began in the summer of 2000 as an effort to counter comments to the effect that the age of political correctness had passed. Some scribes insisted at the time, and still do, that the days when frenzied whiners demanded we all bow before the altars of diversity and tolerance had disappeared. As these pages will attest, that is not the case. Indeed, what has happened is that the culture of political correctness has become so institutionalized that people stopped paying attention. Tongue Tied exists, then, as proof that political correctness is alive and kicking.
Tongue Tied is an effort of a very small group of people. The material is gleaned from what we and we alone consider reliable sources in the media. Typos and clerical mistakes are ours; mistakes of fact are the original authors’. If anyone knows that an error of fact has been reproduced here, please let us know immediately and we will deal with the problem accordingly.
