Description
The Tiger Division Internet site is a non-profit venture designed solely to provide information about the 10th Armored Division and to keep the memory alive of those who served.
Two things stimulated me to put Tiger Division on the Internet. First, I served in the military for more than 27 years, and for most of that time, I never knew much about my father's wartime service. When I learned that he had served with the 10th Armored Division, I began to search the Internet for information. While many organizations, such as the 2nd Armored Division have Internet sites dedicated to their unit's wartime service, I could not find one about the 10th Armored Division. Hopefully, this site will provide a central location where people can learn more about the Tiger Division.
The way I learned of my father's service in the Tiger Division is a story in and of itself. As I mentioned, I knew little about my father's wartime service. I remember him saying that he was in the Battle of the Bulge and assigned at Fort Benning. Beyond that and a few occasions where he briefly mentioned something about the war, he generally never talked about the war. He died in 1985, and I probably can't recall a half dozen instances where he would even briefly mentioned something about the war.
