History
Tidy's Flowers is preparing to celebrate its 130th anniversary as Toronto's oldest florist. It was founded by British native and skilled gardener, Stephen Tidy, who came to Canada in 1873. He operated a small suburban greenhouse until 1877, when he opened his floral business S. Tidy and Sons Limited.
Eventually his son Charles built a greenhouse where he could cultivate roses in a controlled environment; a first of its kind in Canada. Soon after, another son, William, opened another greenhouse.
Stephen Tidy, Sr. passed away in 1896, but his business continued to grow with the addition of another shop that offered the city of Toronto the first flower delivery service on bicycle. In the 1930’s they advanced to their first motorized delivery vehicle.
Charles Tidy, the last of the founding sons, died in 1947. Elliott Lye who started as a courier with the company in 1910 and had worked his way up to a position on the board of directors, purchased the company and was named President in 1948. Elliott kept the Tidy name, knowing that it had become known for quality floral products and superior customer service.
Elliott's son Nick joined the business in 1951, and 13 years later bought out his father and operated the business with his younger brother Douglas. At this time, Tidy's Flowers had grown to three retail shops in the Toronto area. After the brother’s retirement, Elliott’s granddaughter Janet Lye became President and her brother Jim, served as Vice-President. Nick still continues to act as a floral consultant to this day.

Orders
Orders received before noon (eastern time) can be delivered the same day within the following delivery area: All of Toronto and the Greater Toronto area, West to Hamilton, North to Aurora & Newmarket and East to Oshawa. Downtown Toronto is serviced three times daily.
Tidy’s is a Top 30 member of FTD. Same day service is available in North America and usually the next business day for overseas. Phones are answered 24/7, using "Flowers After Hours" for non-business hours. Orders after 12:00 noon on Saturday are processed the following Monday (or Tuesday following a long weekend).
