Craig Walker’s career in professional theatre began when he joined the Stratford Festival in 1982 as an apprentice actor. He subsequently worked as an actor at many other theatres, including seasons with Shaw Festival, the National Arts Centre English Company, the Sudbury Theatre Centre, and he also made appearances at various Toronto theatres ranging from the Poor to the Royal Alex, including such highlights as Robert Lepage’s production of Macbeth at Hart House Theatre and Konstantin in Ronald Bryden’s production of Chekhov’s The Seagull at Robert Gill Theatre. He also directed productions of The Man of Mode and The Art of Success for the University of Toronto and later returned to both the Stratford Festival and the Shaw Festival in the 1990s to work as an Assistant Director.

In 1992, Walker moved to Kingston to join the Department of Drama at Queen’s University, and since then, most of his work as director, actor and playwright has been in the Kingston area. In 1994, he appeared in the two-hander, Brilliant Traces, for People’s Theatre Kingston, and then returned to the company in 1996 to direct a one-act play, Christopher Durang’s Medea, and then to direct and act in a co-production with Les Treteaux de Kingston of Marianne Ackerman’s bilingual play L’Affaire Tartuffe; or, the Garrison Officers Rehearse MoliPre.
