A: I was living in Japan when it first hit theaters in 1998. I was intrigued by all the hooplah, but didn't actually sit down to watch it until just over a year later. Needless to say, I was hooked.
A: In 1999, information about the Ring on the internet was sparse to say the least. Those sites that did exist focused mainly on the film, with nary a mention of the novels, TV series, and so on. Thus, my initial goal was simply to make people aware that there were several incarnations of the Ring in existence. (Actually, the information was originally meant to be just one section of a website covering Japanese horror cinema as a whole. As time went on, however, the Ring part of the site took on a life of its own.)
The initial--and painfully bad--website called norowareta was launched in late 2000 on a free internet server, and then re-launched as ringworld in a more coherent (but still bad) form in 2001. Now known as the ringworld, this site has grown by leaps and bounds to become the monster that it is today.
