- Sanford Bloomberg's life has been a quest for meaning. After World War II, he began undergraduate studies in the humanities, spent a year in Law School, returned to the University of Vermont for a B.A. degree in English literature followed by an M.A. at Columbia University in English :iterature. Chance occurrences and decisions led to an M.D. at the University of Vermont College of medicine. He served as a school psychiatrist both in Michigan and Massachusetts, Medical Direcftor of In-patient and Outpatient Psychiatry and the Drug and Alcohol and Detoxification programs at the Franklin Medical Center Hospital in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Associsate Professor of psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Associate Physician for Psychiatry at Amherst College, Clinical Instructor at the Smith College School for Social Work, and an Adjunct Professor at Westfield State College teaching a course to graduate teachers on Neurolo- gical problems in learning.
