From the earliest times, artists have been depicting the human form and spirit in styles ranging from the archaic and spiritually provocative to classically sublime. Study classical techniques at APA workshops developed during the Renaissance and passed down by great artists to their students throughout the centuries. APA instructors are recognized as masters in the field of figurative painting who studied with earlier generation master portraitists. APA teachers are well equipped to teach the secrets of these ancient techniques. Learning to see the anatomically geometric design of the human form, understanding the play of light across the form and using color to enhance the beauty inherent in every face will further enhance the ability of each of our participants to paint beautiful portraits. The Andreeva Portrait Academy will offer most classes from one to two weeks in length, allowing flexibility for students who have busy schedules while accommodating the out of town traveler who wishes to study painting in Santa Fe with exceptional local and visiting teachers. For those wishing to develop mastery while studying the technique of one special mentor, APA will offer “Summer Intensive” workshops with Santa Fe’s own critically acclaimed Portrait Painter, Tony Ryder!
