- For a brief time in history, the town of Hawley was known as Falls Port. The name Falls Port was derived from the magnificent water falls that helped the community to develop, and also highlighted the town's natural beauty. The original building, now known as The Falls Port Inn and Restaurant, was constructed in 1902 by Baron von Eckelberg and was operated as an Inn and Restaurant for many years.
