- TheDailySail was originally founded under the name madforsailing.com and went live just prior to the Sydney Olympics in 2000. James Boyd replaced Mark Chisnell as Editor in the spring of 2001. Two significant landmarks occurred during early 2002 when madforsailing picked up the Sealine Marine Media Award at the prestigious British Nautical Awards - the first website ever to do so. Shortly after madforsailing also became the first marine website to go subscription, on the basis of this being a more reliable business model for the longevity of the site.
