Description

The University of Missouri's Region 7 Rehabilitation Continuing Education Program (RCEP7) developed the TBI MO.org website as part of the Missouri TBI Demonstration Project in 1997. The demonstration project coordinated several TBI support and outreach programs under a three-year grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services. It was a collaborative effort of the Missouri Division of Maternal, Child, and Family Health, The Missouri Head Injury Advisory Council, The Brain Injury Association of Missouri, and RCEP7. The project was officially housed in the Missouri Division of Maternal, Child, and Family Health, but TBI MO.org at the University of Missouri acted as a central, coordinating resource.

When the grant ended in 2001, several of the projects continued under follow-up grants, including the Support Partner Program (connecting trained volunteers with families of individuals with newly acquired TBI) and the TBI Leadership Academy (building collaboration skills among the various people and agencies that provide services to people with TBI). TBI MO continues as an un-funded project under RCEP7, part of RCEP7's service to the vocational rehabilitation community and disability community in general.
