- America's taxicab service industry has collapsed. The expectation of service has descended to zero. The American taxicab industry is a monopoly by jurisdiction. It is anti-free market because of closed entry. Because of closed entry the certificates of public conveyance and necessity (pcans) become property rights in violation of the constitution. The certificate holder wants the least qualified operator to drive the cab so that he can confiscate 90% of their earnings… thus incompetence, thus no service, thus no real income to the driver and no taxes paid. Closed entry is a criminal scam.
