In 2003, twelve wine-loving friends from Allegany, NY came together under party-planning maven, Anne Conroy-Baiter, to celebrate the birthday of a good friend. Their first SWILL™ (Several Wine Imbibers Liking Libations) wine tasting party was such a huge hit that they quickly realized they had something special. They knew they had to do this again—and soon! So, they set another date to meet and invited more friends to join them. And, so SWILL™ was born!
This SWILL™ club’s membership list has now expanded to over 160 people and counting. Members take turns hosting these SWILL™ wine tasting club parties in their homes, so attendance is usually limited to about 40-50 tasters. Each SWILLer pays a tasting fee, which has allowed this wine tasting club to sample some fabulous wines. As their SWILL™ club grew, Anne realized the business potential of sharing the SWILL™ philosophy of hosting a wine tasting party. In 2005, she asked Eva Potter to become her business partner and together they formed SWILLparty, LLC, and have made plans to take over the world – uh, build an entertainment empire. (They don’t know how to think small.)
