However, my main reason in writing this letter is to tell you of my experience with men who are incarcerated. Seven years ago, by accident, my journey within the prison system began. I had begun a mail order business, selling gifts among other things and inmates began to use my service. Perhaps there are some of you who are fearful of writing to men in prison. I know I was. I had never known anyone in prison and because of that fear, I almost lost out on one of the greatest experiences of my life. My first thought was to just not deal with them but I did and soon found out that my fears were totally unfounded.
For the past seven years I have corresponded with thousands of men. They have brought so much into my life that I could sit and talk to you all day and still not have told you all the positive I have received. Many of them have become like brothers to me and I love them dearly. I have been treated with the utmost respect. I have received valuable information from them that has not only helped me with my business but also with my personal life. There have been a few guys that I have extended credit to and not one of them has let me down. There have been many days that a letter had come and either made me laugh or cry, but I only cried because the letter was so touching.
