- Support Our Military Heroes is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization founded in 2005 by Sam Mnatsakanian. Mr. Mnatsakanian originated the idea of establishing an organization to assist soldiers and their families after hearing of numerous news accounts of families who were experiencing major financial setbacks because of the deaths or injuries of their loved ones in Iraq and other locations throughout the world. His philosophy is based on a memorable saying that his grandfather always shared with him: “Tend your own garden first”. Based upon that saying, Mr. Mnatsakanian believed that Americans should help its own before we help those in other countries, and that we should especially help our own American soldiers who have gone to combat for their country and our freedom.
