Description
Thanks to grants from a number of sources we are able to offer our Street Spirits shows as a tour through northern Canada. Interested groups and organizations can book a Street Spirits show as a way to raise public awareness of social issues, as entertainment and as a fundraising event.
Street Spirits is a company of young people dedicated to the production and performance of audience interactive theatre with socially significant themes. Street Spirits actors use their life experiences to create plays that reflect that shared experience. In performance the cast uses improvisation and audience interaction to assist audience members to explore issues of concern to the community and to generate ways of addressing those issues. In Street Spirits plays audience members are invited to come on to the stage and try to improvise ways of resolving the problems presented in the play. Being in a Street Spirits audience is often a life changing experience.
Street Spirits performances have addressed issues such as racism, family violence, drug and alcohol misuse, peer pressure, sexual assault, child abuse, date rape, poverty, homelessness, HIV and AIDS,unemployment and prostitution, challenging audiences to share opinions andgenerate solutions.
