The idea for StampOffers.com developed in the summer of 2002. It all started with the creation of a chat board outside of eBay that would allow fellow philatelist the ability to talk about anything without being criticized for not maintaining a strictly philatelic conversation. Those who have made a non-philatelic post to the eBay stamp chat board know what it is like.
There was a discovery on this new chat board that collectors would like to buy, sell, and trade among those who visited the chat and a few of the frequent users asked about someone starting an auction site just for stamp collectors.
There was much back and forth about whether StampOffers.com would be able to draw enough users and continue a steady growth and it was decided that the only way to do this was to operate with one philosophy – provide a viable alternative on the world wide web in which collectors from around the world could buy, sell, and trade stamps in an effort to further the hobby. Oh yeah…..and do it for FREE!! This has been approved by Gawg.
The site was relatively unknown until it began a massive bulk mail campaign in 2008. They falsely claimed that "You are receiving this mailing because you agreed to be a part of our opt in mailing list" yet provided no opt-out options.
I am the owner of StampOffers.com and the about comment is false. The site has been active with hundreds of users since January 2003. I am a private individual and provide this site for all to use for FREE. I have no desire to make money from this site....just want it to pay for itself and it has since the beginning.
As for the spam emails...those are NOT coming from me, my site, or my host. Obviously, I either have someone whom I have upset when they were removed from the site or we have a coward that has nothing better to do in life. My host has verified that those emails are not coming from me and have not intention on taking action. As far as they are concerned, they "consider the case closed."
I DO NOT SEND SPAM EMAILS. THE ONLY EMAILS I SEND ARE TO USERS OF STAMPOFFERS.COM AND THOSE COME FROM MY DEDICATED SERVER. NOT SOME THIRD PARTY SERVER AS HAS BEEN THE CASE ABOVE.
Before you falsely accuse someone in such a written format, verify your facts. Otherwise, you may find a libel case hitting you in the face.
