Introduction
We are a local independent charity founded in 1860 serving the sight impaired people of Sheffield. We receive no funding from any other charity, or from local or national government. We are totally reliant upon the generosity of the public and local businesses to fund the wide range of services we provide.
We work closely with all other organisations who provide services for sight impaired people in Sheffield and through our membership of Sheffield Low Vision Services Consultative Committee, we are committed to developing a wide range of high quality services either by ourselves or in conjunction with other service providers such as Social Services Sensory Impairment Team and Royal Hallamshire Hospital Low Vision Clinic.
Providing a high quality programme of Welfare, Education, Training, Recreation, Counselling and Care services to assist the sight impaired people of Sheffield in improving their quality of life generally, wherever possible by encouraging self-help.
