About Us
Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand is a not-for-profit incorporated society acting as the professional body for New Zealand's sport and exercise scientists, practitioners and students.
Originally established in 1990 under the name 'New Zealand Sport Science and Technology Board' (NZSSTB), the organisation changed in 1996 to 'Sport Science New Zealand' (SSNZ), and again in 2004 to 'Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand' (SESNZ); indicative of a horizontal integration which now means the organisation encompasses all facetts of sport and exercise science.
SESNZ also acts as a knowledge hub, and advocates on behalf of its members the benefits of applied evidence-based sport and exercise science in the advancement or improvement of both human performance and health.
