REVIEW OF SPECIAL K

Recently, Special K, a Kellogg brand breakfast cereal has implemented the Special K challenge. The challenge is marketed as a weight loss plan based around the popular breakfast cereal. Unlike many diet plans that rely on, scientifically tested and proven appetite suppressants or energy boosters, exercise, and overall healthy living this one seems to focus more on the cereal and other Kellogg products. The site is very well designed, and has many layers and extras included. This is to be expected when dealing with a company as large as Kellogg. Despite all of this flash, it is unclear if the Special K challenge diet is actually a potent and effective weight loss plan, or if it is just an excellently pitched marketing tool that has enjoyed tremendous popularity. The cereal is popular for sure, but we will take a closer look at the possible effectiveness of this method.

REVIEW OF Special K Challenge

The Special K Challenge promises to allow you to drop a jean size in a two week timeframe. The challenge requires you to replace two meals per day with one of the five varieties of Special K served with 2/3 cup of skim milk and fruit. Your third meal of the day is to be eaten as normal. Suggested snacks are fruit, vegetables, or other Special K branded snack bar products. Eating cereal for two meals may become tough to adhere to after a while. Following this plan it is claimed that you will consume roughly 500 fewer calories and 70% less fat than normal. This of course is assuming that you do not binge on your own during the day. This may prove difficult for those who have been trying to lose weight on repetitive foods alone. While simply replacing meals with Special K cereals does not seem very difficult to accomplish, it may prove to be very inconvenient at times. For example, if you often have work lunches or dinners it is doubtful that the restaurants are going to carry Special K. Other weight loss plans often recommend sensible eating which can be accomplish at virtually any restaurant. It is not possible to order a bowl of cereal at every restaurant. It is also possible (if not probable) that you may become tired of eating so much cereal. This diet could become very undesirable say after your 14th meal of cereal in a week. This plan does not contain any sort of appetite suppressant so it may very difficult to combat the hunger cravings that may accompany this diet.
