Title
Spacecraft & Airplane models - high quality, custom-built models
Description
Nick Proach has been building models since he was 11 years old, graduating to space modeling at the time of the Apollo 11 lunar landing in 1969. What started as an all-consuming hobby in the late 1960's for a gangly 14 year-old fascinated with the space program (he turned out his first professional spacecraft model at the age of 17) has grown to become a full-time business undertaken with passion by a man still in love with space flight.
In 1975 (Nick) built a model, which was used by CTV, for their coverage of the historic Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, which saw the first International meeting in space between Russia and the United States.
In 1985, Nick did what no other modelmaker was able to do - he created a 1/5 scale working model of Canada's Anik C communications satellite for Telesat Canada. The model was designed to simulate it's deployment sequence. The model, based on the Hughes 376 design, spun and fully deployed itself, a sequence which was completed on budget, a feat other model makers had tried over a period of years but could not produce. It was Nick's intimate knowledge of the satellite and its functions that lead to this success.
