- I wrote something for a class either last term or the term before, and somehow I worked the issue of voting into the mix. I could REALLY hop on my soapbox and just go off for an hour or so about voting, why it’s important, and why if you don’t vote I don’t want to hear your complaints about who is in office/what’s going on/what’s not going on/why you’re unhappy with the way things are run because, in my humble opinion, if you didn’t vote, you have no right to complain because you did not take time out of your precious day to fulfill a civic duty, an obligation to yourself, your family, and your nation. The lines may be long, it may be cold, wet, snowy, rainy, or whatever. It may be that you work late. There are ways to vote before election day (I believe it depends on your state but it’s worth checking into). There are plenty of times during election day where you can skip that last few minutes of lunch.
