Welcome to the Scientology Missions International Website. This site will help provide you with basic information about what Scientology is, what Church of Scientology Missions are and the role they play in providing spiritual freedom to millions around the world.
Scientology itself is a religion which holds in common many of the beliefs of other religions and philosophies. The word Scientology is taken from the Latin scio, which means "knowing in the fullest sense of the word," and the Greek word logos, meaning "study of." It literally means "knowing how to know." Scientology itself is defined as "The study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and other life."
Scientology is an applied religious philosophy which addresses the spiritual being. It directly raises his awareness and ability, and by doing so, he also becomes increasingly able to overcome the negative factors that impair him. Scientology, then, contains solutions to the problems of living and can and does accomplish these ends routinely, daily, all over the world.
