It is now clear that Old Mutual is Skandia's new, principal shareholder. At the Extraordinary General Meeting that was held earlier this week, a new board was elected, and I have the great honour and pleasure to present myself as the new President and CEO of Skandia.
Skandia is a tremendous company with a long record of experience and expertise in long-term savings and insurance. In many respects, Skandia is not unlike Old Mutual. Both companies have a long and proud heritage, both are firmly established in their respective home markets, and both have expanded their operations to new areas and markets. Our new, combined organisation spans over 20 countries around the world and employs some 50,000 people. In this way we have access to varying competencies of many talented employees – something I hope that you will feel the benefits of over time.
Our focus is to continue offering innovative products of the finest quality in order to provide you with the range of choices and flexibility that suits your individual needs. We will also continue to develop opportunities for all of Skandia's talented employees and thereby create an environment to become even better at what we do.
