- Provisional Sinn Féin IRA member, Vol. Charlie McHugh, died late on Friday evening, 3rd October 2008. McHugh took his own life, by hanging, at his home in Castlederg, County Tyrone. Top-ranking PIRA Army Council member, Pat Doherty (from County Donegal, Éire), said McHugh's suicide had left everyone numb with shock and sorrow. "Everyone will rally around in the days ahead to try and comfort and support the family," he said.
