Signaling Gateway - Cell Signaling research, news, data and conferences
Description
Introduction to the Signaling Gateway
Signal transduction discoveries are being made at an ever increasing rate. Tens of thousands of papers annually means that it is almost impossible to keep up-to-date about individual cell signaling pathways, let alone to maintain an overview of the field. The Signaling Gateway, a comprehensive and free online resource that is the result of a collaboration between the Alliance for Cellular Signaling (AfCS) and Nature Publishing Group, aims to help you keep abreast of these developments.
At the heart of this collaboration is the Molecule Pages, a relational database of all significant published qualitative and quantitative information on cell signaling proteins. Although the emphasis is on mouse, a wide range of orthologs will be covered. This database will also allow entirely new insights to be gleaned through intelligent data mining: the Molecule Pages database was developed with the specific aim of allowing interactions, and indeed whole pathways, to be modelled. Our goal is to filter the data to present only validated information. Thus, invited experts will enter much of the data and every Molecule Page will be comprehensively peer reviewed by Nature. We regard a Molecule Page as a new fully-fledged form of publication.
The Gateway also presents the AfCS Data Center, a large and growing public repository of primary data from the Alliance's own cellular signaling experiments. Others are welcome - indeed encouraged - to make use of these data in their own research and publications.
