Shuryukan Ryu | Training begins in Basics, and it returns to Basics...

Description

"The Secret of Progress lies at the Start"

Ohayou Onegaishimasu! Welcome! Shuryukan is a non-profit group. It was established in 2000 to promote Aikido to the community. It became a branch of Shuyokan Dojo, USA (IYAF) in 2004. The "SHU" in Shuryukan stands for austerity in training, it also means strong and most all it is part of the Shuyokan name. "RYU" means dragon, and "KAN" means the place of training. Loosely translated in means House of the Strong Dragon.

Yoshinkan Aikido is a modern Japanese Martial Art taught to the Japanese kidoutai, which when used for self-defense can counter many different attacks. Our journey is to master and understand the basics utilizing the Yoshinkan system. Powerful flowing movements should only be attempted once a good understanding of the basics has been established. Basic teaches us: Kamae, Chushin Ryoku, Shuchu Ryoku, and Kokyu Ryoku.

We start and end each technique with a strong kamae. Students are initially trained in kata based format and then gradually move on to more flowing techniques. In the end it goes without saying that our training begins and ends in basics. Osu!
