T.G. Honer's Forest Art & Heritage
Description
Terence George Honer (1932- ), is an artist, author and a retired professional forester. A native of northern Ontario, he has been resident in Victoria since 1974.
While at the University of Toronto (1951-1955), Honer participated in art classes conducted by the Ontario watercolour artist, Carl Fellman Schaefer. In 1978, he reactivated his interest in painting and began a seven year friendship with the American artist Leslie Hayes (1917-1984), and painted on a regular basis with Hayes in his studio in rural Metchosin.
In 1990, he established a liaison with the American painter Ken Brauner of Eugene, Oregon, and visits with Brauner to paint and compare notes on depicting and painting historical forestry scenes and forest landscapes.
