Additionally, through our participation in the Association of Shareware Professionals, we've studied the industry, its potential, and the challenges facing software companies today. We are convinced that Shareware will dominate much of the new and innovative software produced in the future. We recognize the need for improved promotion and sales of shareware. At the same time, as web publishers, we see thousands of nice web sites, all looking for a way to make a little money.
While thinking about these two concerns, authors trying to promote their software, and Webmasters trying to earn a little money, Amazon.com came along and changed the net. The simple idea they applied was to let webmasters share a small piece of the revenue for any sales they help generate. Amazingly, they now have nearly 200,000 affiliates advertising for Amazon.com, all without a penny paid up front. So, the next step for me seemed obvious. If shareware authors are willing to share sales revenue with the websites that bring the buyers, everyone wins. Thus SellShareware.com was born.
