Who we are:
Selene is a non-profit, whole foods cooperative owned and operated by its members. Membership is open to everyone. Decision and policy making operate at two levels. The elected Board of Directors is responsible for ongoing planning and supervision of the Co-op. The monthly board meetings are open to the general membership, and times and places are posted in the store. Policy changes and decisions are established by the consensus of those present at the annual membership meetings. Members' participation at these meetings helps to insure the continued democratic operation of our Co-op.
What we do:
Selene purchases foods that are organically grown and locally produced when possible. We are concerned with selling "whole foods," by which we mean those foods as close to their natural state as possible - foods that have undergone little or no processing. We will not knowingly sell irradiated foods. Our prices are discounted to members and provide considerable savings on most items.
