Hello, Captain Earl Gardner here of the Seaweed Charters. To the right is a look inside the cabin of the “Seaweed”, a 26’ Penn Yann. There is a colored Si-Tex fish finder, Raython Radar equipment, and the Fish Hawk - this unit tells me the temperature of the water at both the surface and where the lures are, plus the speed at which the lure is traveling through the water (to catch “the big ones” consistently requires keeping up with the most modern technology available). We have 2 VHF marine radios & a Raython 500 with auto pilot for those times when I am in the back of the boat landing your fish. The square black box is a Lowrance GPS (to take us back to the exact spot you hooked the lunker). The “Seaweed” is fully equipped with life vests, marine toilet, a heated cabin, and each spring it is totally inspected by the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD. Oh, and there I am sitting at the helm ready to take you and your party out for an experience of a lifetime!
As my family says, I am a “consummate outdoor sportsman”, having fished, hunted, and trapped since I was a child. My wife Dorothy & I owned and operated the Northview Boat Livery on Saratoga Lake for 20 years (I worked in a factory for 16 years before owning my own business), but a vacation to Lake Ontario in 1986 “hooked” me on Salmon fishing. When we decided to “retire”, we moved to our present home on the Little Salmon River. I found living here on the river & fishing for Brown Trout, Steelheads, Lake Trout, Coho, and of course the ultimate King Salmon to be quite an experience. In 1992, the next logical step was to “return to school” and to earn my Captain’s License so I could share my fishing skills and experience with others - after all what better job can anyone have than one you truly enjoy?
I am a fulltime Captain and available to fish from April until October (depending of course on the weather conditions and booking availability). The “Seaweed” does not have a fulltime mate, however if your fishing trip warrants an extra set of hands, I will arrange it.
