Description
Scottish Documents was launched in July 2003 by the National Archives of Scotland (NAS) as part of the Scottish Archive Network (SCAN) project. The project funded the digitisation and preservation of over 520,000 Scottish wills and testaments. The NAS is now digitising more Scottish historical records, including those of kirk sessions, presbyteries, synods and the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. The project will open up access to historical records on a huge scale, by making digital copies of the records available in a larger number of places in Scotland and eventually worldwide via the Internet.
