SalsaGids.info was launched on 12 Feb 2006 as a subsite of kayakfun.info, with http://kayakfun.info/salsagids/ as the URL. Initially started as a reaction on the prices of rum-cola, it soon featured an overview of salsabars and type of floor, size of the floor and of course prices for entrance and drinks. One agenda of big salsafestivals, and one for every weekend soon followed, supported by a weekly newsletter.
End 2006 the site started receiving free tickets to give away to members of the salsagids mailing list as promotion, which caused more people to join the mailing list. In 2007 we joined forces with 3 big players in the salsa agenda scene and jointly organized a trip to the famous Antilliaanse Feesten. On 10 Oct 2007 SalsaGids moved to its own domain: http://salsagids.info because it was easier to communicate at noisy salsa parties.
