Description
Dr. Rick Diamond, a.k.a. Holy Dude, grew up all over Texas and went to high school in Corpus Christi, Texas. After receiving Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English from Baylor University, he was an Instructor of English at two colleges in East Texas for ten years, which included teaching writing and literature to high school students, to inmates in a number of maximum-security prisons, and to thousands of college students. He won numerous teaching awards, as well as authoring The Creative Writing Guide, a college textbook on Creative Writing, published by Longman in 1997.
He attended Perkins Theological Seminary in Dallas, was consecrated a United Methodist minister in 1996, and then was ordained in 1999. In 1995, he joined the staff of Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler, Texas, where he served as Associate Pastor of Christian Learning and Discipleship. He and his family loved Tyler, the Rose Capital of the World, nestled behind the beautiful Pine Curtain.
He completed a Doctor of Ministry degree in Postmodern Church Leadership from Drew University in 2001, graduating with distinction. He traveled all over the country and met many odd and interesting people.
