- RenderAid started as a hobby. I (Darin) started getting into some 3D graphics stuff back in the early to mid 1990s with POV-Ray. Render times were awful and the images even worse most of the time. Then I got a deal on a modeling/animation package from Impulse called Imagine. I used that for a few years and then had the opportunity to get Lightwave 5.5.
