I have experience both as a senior communications director for globally recognized, brand-driven companies and as a journalist for several leading media outlets (including publications owned by Hearst, Newhouse, Tribune and Crain's). As both an in-house communications professional and a consultant, I have shaped the communications strategies of companies in an array of industries, including entertainment, publishing, manufacturing, staffing and recruitment, technology and energy.
I am experienced at counseling executive management and at devising media and public relations, crisis management and marketing programs. I excel at synthesizing complex topics and issues into easier-to-understand messages and can successfully incorporate trends and issues with which a wide variety of audiences can identify. My work in demanding, fast-paced environments has trained me to adjust quickly to shifting priorities and newly emerging issues.
My earlier experience as a metropolitan daily newspaper reporter makes it easy for me to establish rapport across every level of the organization, from the shop floor to the executive suite. My news experience also trained me to accurately predict how topics, issues and decisions will affect the court of public opinion.
