Description
While searching high and low for a true Cajun restaurant outside of Louisiana (and online!), two Cajuns (Chrissy LeMaire and Brandon Abshire) found that most Americans thought that Cajun food consisted of only red pepper and paprika. Chrissy and Brandon's vision is to give Cajuns back their good name and to spread the essence of Real Cajun Cooking and Culture to the rest of the world. RealCajunRecipes.com moderates all recipe submissions and recipes are added only after our mothers, aunts and great aunt's have given their seal of approval.
Brandon, son of Carl and Carrie Abshire, is a 1998 graduate of Kaplan High School in Kaplan, Louisiana. After 2 years in the Computer Science program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he moved to San Diego in 2000 and has been living in America's Finest City ever since. Brandon is the creator of the mighty fine RealCajunRecipes mascot, Alphonse. In addition to his drawing talents, Brandon also uses his web and database skills working for the Wireless Business Solutions division at Qualcomm Inc.. In his spare time, Brandon enjoys listening to Air America Radio and doing his part to educate family, friends, and others about current events in government and society.
Chrissy, born and raised in Kaplan, LA graduated from Kaplan High School in 1996. A year later, she moved to San Diego, California to attend college. After moving to the other LA - Los Angeles for a couple years, she has now settled down in beautiful San Francisco (ding ding!). In addition to working as a full time database administrator and programmer at Luce Forward, Chrissy likes spending time snowboarding in Tahoe, stalking tech companies in Silicon Valley, chillin in Vegas and working with charities such as the GLAAD and Project Angelfood. She is currently attending the University of San Francisco to finish her degree in Information Systems. Her dream is to open a Cajun restaurant in San Francisco on RealCajunRecipes.com's tenth-year anniversary.
