Purple Fleece, located in mid-coast Maine, presents another option for weavers, spinners, and other fiber artists by offering yarns for weaving and knitting, fleece and other fibers for spinning and felting, equipment and supplies, and classes for those that want to know more about the fiber arts. For the weavers and knitters, we stock a wide range of yarns including Plymouth, Skacel, Harrisville, Louet, UKI, Silk City, Maysville Klippan-Bergå, Borgs, Briggs & Little, Green Mountain Spinnery, and Cascade. Fibers for the spinners and felters include show-quality greased fleece from Merino, Romney,
Lincoln-Finn and Corriedale breeds, dyed/carded wool, silk, mohair, angora, camel, cashgora, hemp, and alpaca. We add new yarns and fibers frequently and are continually adding to our equipment and supplies as well. We carry looms and wheels from Ashford, Louet, Harrisville, Babe's Fiber Garden, and Schacht.
In addition, Purple Fleece also offers both one-on-one and small group instruction in weaving, spinning, and knitting. Hours are flexible to suit the needs of the student. The studio overlooks lovely perennial gardens with views of the water.
