- The hallmark of Dr. Nebel's career is a sincere dedication to helping people understand the basics of science so that they will better understand problems of today's world and make more intelligent policy decisions. Holding a BA from Earlham College (1960) and a Ph.D. in plant science from Duke University (1965) Dr. Nebel was among the early developers of environmental science curricula in the 70s and authored one of the first, textbooks for that subject. Throughout his career in environmental science Dr. Nebel maintained an active avocation in working with younger children and studying how children learn.
