Description
Hamtramck, Mich. Nearly one year after their departure from a major Detroit gallery, Carrie Hazel and Jamie Latendresse returned to the Detroit art scene in 2003 to open Primary Space Gallery in Downtown Hamtramck. Hazel and Latendresse, in conjunction with Hamtramck property owner John Grossi, have converted an empty space on Yemans into a modern art venue, the first of its kind in the community.
After over two years of exhibits and events, Primary Space has featured artists from all over the continent including 7teen, Bask, Amathin, Anna Cangialosi, Evah Fan, Andrew Hugelier, Other, Keren Richter, Allyson Mellberg, Deth P. Sun and Thesis (see our Links page for a complete list of artists we've exhibited). Primary Space has welcomed national press such as Travel + Leisure magazine, and local recognition as one of HOUR Detroit's Things Every Detroiter Must Do.
Carrie and Jamie look forward to a continuing array of new and inspiring exhibits throughout 2005 and 2006. Look for lots more theme and group shows as well as many brand new artists in the coming months. You bring the eyes, we'll bring the candy.
