It was the year 1992. MSN messenger had not yet been invented. Yahoo was just a simple directory. The Internet had about 30 million users world wide, most of them being military or universities. And Chameleon (what's that) was the world's Award Winning Internet Browser. In other words, the Internet looked like anything but the modern day Internet. A 48K telephone modem was considered to be a fast connection.
On a discussion list - the only Maledom/femsub oriented facility at the time - three people met: one from the USA, one from New Zealand and one from The Netherlands. Three months later, in February 1993 POWERotics was born. The first strictly Maledom/femsub oriented site on the Internet. And it rapidly grew to the most comprehensive and renowned BDSM information resource on the net. If you were to print just the text, available on our servers, you would easily fill an entire book case.
Since we began the Powerotics Foundation - the organisation behind UrbanKink, Shibari Do and the BDSM Academy - has set standards. And we continue to do so. We were the first to give the Maledom/femsub communtiy a face and an image. The first to provide fully documented information about Japanese bondage. And we are stiil the only site offering detailed, in depth information about just about every aspect of BDSM, D/s or whichever other name you'd like to stick on whatever it is that we do.
