Hello and welcome to PhamilyTree! My name is Christy and I am the creator of the goods you will find here on this site. I live in Taylorsville, KY with my wonderful husband Bill, our dog Wilson, and our three kitties, Patchouli, Miracle and Disco. I began sewing about six years ago on my Grandma Violets 1950's Singer machine. I fell in love with patchwork and all of the beautiful fabrics and designs I have seen over the years. I always admired the women who utilized their creativity and put their love and personalities into their patchwork creations. I decided to join them by selling my goods at various shows and building myself a little corner here on the web to share my artwork with all of you!
Please rest assured that my clothing is of the highest quality. 80% of my fabrics are purchased at my local quilt shop. Quilt shop fabrics are ideal for patchwork. Their high thread-count and deep, rich coloring make them well worth the expense. I also use alot of batik which is handmade and hand printed. I prewash and dry all of my fabric before sewing to prevent shrinking and color bleeding.
Applique is my absolute favorite part of sewing! I just love sitting at my work table, glancing out the window at my flower garden full of birds and dreaming up beautiful appliques. All of my appliques are hand drawn, cut, fused with an iron on paper and tightly satin stitched. I use a heavy tear-away backing on the underneath side of the material for stability and finish with a light coat of fray stop spray glue.
