What to expect from a practitioner
Most importantly, your alternative therapist, whether practicing chiropractic, massage, acupressure, aromatherapy, homeopathy or any other complimentary therapies will know his/her own limitations. Follow up is crucial. You should always receive a follow up phone call, email, or letter. Similar to the way that you would peel away layers from an onion, alternative therapies often peel away layers of symptoms before they actually reach the real cause of the problem.
They should never diagnose a condition in your animal,. If there is something they think is suspicious, they should only suggest that you consult your veterinarian.
A responsible therapist realizes that they may not have the answer and will not have a problem referring you to another therapist or a different therapy, if they feel it would be more beneficial for your animal.
