My name is Krissa Corbett Cavouras and I've been boggling at some manifestation of Petit Hiboux for almost four years. I've changed a lot, and so has the boggle. I still love it, though, even though it's sort of a surly teen these days, always slinking around with black eyeliner and sighing with ennui.
I consider myself a writer, and I'm working towards it, albeit slowly. For me, writing fiction is worse than getting blood from a stone - it's more like getting a cat into a carrier. I've slowly but surely disabused myself of the notion that there's anything else I'd rather do, but like the cowardly lion, it's much easier for me to run in the opposite direction when I'm startled. It's on days like that, when I start telling Stuart that I think I'd make a GREAT pastry chef, that he knows to gently push me back towards my dream. Husbands are great that way. The blog, too, keeps me focused on what I like to think I do best. But still, pastry chef!
There are a lot of things I cherish, like my marriage, my family, my friends, my city, my freedom. I'm also fond of my favourite tea mug, my book collection, my laptop, syrah and malbec in the winter, my Frye boots, mac'n'cheese, mani/pedis, and writing this blog. I don't write about politics or religion (when I can help it) because this is not the forum. I don't write often on the trials and tribulations of society because punditry is so 2001 and I want to keep you here because of my own creative ideas, not because of my rehashed opinions of talking heads. I write for gothamist about books because I love them.
