In the fall of 1987 when I was fresh out of college I began directing two beginning steel band classes at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois. The only problem was that there wasn't any published pan music to speak of so I began to compose and arrange my own music for steel band. This soon became a passion that not only hasn't subsided, but has increased. In 1998 my good friend Kevin Jocius and I thought it would be fun to start our own publishing company. This company was formed to publish what we considered to be the best of my original compositions for steel band and steel pan soloist. There have been a few select additions to our catalog written by other composers. I write the pieces and Kevin designs and maintains our web site.
In the few years since the formation of Pan Press, the steel band world has grown a great deal and we hope to keep growing with it. Our goal is to make available high quality original music for all levels of steel band and pan soloists. With that in mind, we'll keep the tunes coming and all that we ask is that you give them a listen. Kevin and I still get a charge each time an order comes in. It has been an honor to have so many people play and enjoy our music.
