Established in 1978 by Gussie and Warren Holloway, Travel Outfitters was one of the first travel supply stores in the entire United States. Our goal was to offer the greater Sacramento area a store that would provide travelers with the essentials their journey's required. Twenty-five years later Warren Holloway and his son, Jon, continue to offer valley residents our best efforts in achieving this goal.
The late twentieth century travel boom has been an incredibly exciting event to be a part of. Thankfully, our own growth has paralleled the increase in travel. We had to fight hard in the early years in order to survive, but Gussie and Warren were committed to the idea that travelers needed to have a one-stop travel supply store. They discovered how to promote this vision when Gussie Holloway began conducting packing demonstrations in order to educate travelers on how to pack light. The "demos" popularity grew and with no coincidence, so did our business.
Make no mistake, there have been several personal and professional ups-and-downs in our business. Over the years we have dealt with periodic wars and acts of terrorism hurting international travel. On a personal level the Holloway family has had to overcome the loss of our founder. Throughout the trials we have always remembered how truly fortunate our family has been to run a successful and respected business. We thank everyone who has stepped into our store for allowing us to participate in their adventures.
