Mr. Don R. Bouc was appointed by the Secretary of Education in 2001 and reappointed in October 2004 to serve a term that expires in September 2007. He is currently president emeritus of the National Education Loan Network (Nelnet) and a member of the Board of Directors of Nelnet, Inc. Mr. Bouc joined Nelnet as President in 1997. From 1990-1997, Mr. Bouc served as president of the Nebraska Higher Education Loan Program, Inc. (NebHELP). During his tenure, he assisted in creating the Education Finance Council and later served as its chairman. In 1985, Mr. Bouc founded Midwest Computing, Inc. the developer of EASEL (a servicing and related software package used in over 50 financial institutions in the student loan industry). From 1974-1985, Mr. Bouc worked for the University of Nebraska Central Administration Computing Services network, leaving as director of Administrative Computing. Prior to that, he taught public high school mathematics in Spencer, Nebraska. Mr. Bouc earned an undergraduate degree in math education in 1969 and a M.S. in computer science in 1974 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Lincoln Junior Achievement, the National Board of Directors for Junior Achievement, and the Board of Directors for the Lincoln Literacy Council.
