Nicky Oxley, MD of Omnific Designs, has been in the business for 15 years and draws inspiration from what's happening in fashion as these days there is a huge crossover between interiors and fashion, with interiors trends swiftly picking up on the latest catwalk styles. We take, as our starting point, a detailed profile of the type of house-buyers the showhouse is likely to attract. This provides information on their lifestyle, professions, number of children (if any), and so on. Rooms are usually designed one at a time, with fabrics, furnishings, wallcoverings, furniture and lighting chosen for each. Scheme boards - drawings providing a detailed picture of how each room will look, with information on all furnishings to be used - are then submitted for approval. Once the design is given the green light, we present the showhouse firm with a schedule for the installation of furniture, soft furnishings and so on, which have been sourced and planned within an economic framework to suit our client.
